Integrations

Overview

The Fortinet Integration allows Cywift to securely connect with FortiGatefirewalls to collect firewall policies, security configurations, andcompliance-related data.

This integration improves visibility into firewall security posture andsupports automated compliance checks.

Before starting the integration, ensure the following:

• Administrative access to FortiGate firewall
• Device hostname or IP address
• API token or API-enabled user account
• API access enabled
• Network connectivity between Cywift and FortiGate

Step 1: Create API User / Generate APIToken

Cywift uses API-based communication to securely connect with FortiGate.

Create API User

Log in to FortiGate.

Navigate to:

System → Administrators

Create a new administrator account.

Set permissions:

Profile: Read-Only

Enable REST API access.

Generate API Token

While creating the API administrator, generate the API token and save itsecurely.

Verify API Access

Test API connectivity:

curl -khttps://<fortigate-ip>/api/v2/monitor/system/status?access_token=<token>

Important Notes:

• Save the API token securely
• Use read-only permissions only
• Restrict API access where possible

Step 2: Navigate to Integrations inCywift

• Log in to the Cywift Platform
• Go to Integration from the left menu
• Under NGFW
• Select Fortinet
• Click Connect

Step 3: Add Individual Integration

Use this option when integrating a single FortiGate firewall.

Required Fields

Number of Integration
Select Individual Integration

Integration Type
Select NGFW

Collectors*
Select a configured collector

Integration System
Select Fortinet

Alias
Enter a friendly name for the integration

Owner
Select the integration owner

Host Address
Enter the FortiGate hostname or IP address

Username
Enter API-enabled username (if applicable)

Password / Token
Enter the password or API token

Actions

Test Connection
Verifies API connectivity and authentication

Cancel
Discards configuration

Step 4: Add Bulk Integration

Use this option to integrate multiple FortiGate firewalls.

Steps

• Select Bulk Integration
• Choose Integration Type (NGFW)
• Select Collectors
• Choose Integration System: Fortinet
• Click Download Template
• Fill in the template with required firewall details
• Upload the completed file
• Click Test Connection
